Lindsay Lohan got in the mood for her sizzling Linda Lovelace poster shoot by watching X-rated movies of the porn star, RadarOnline.com can reveal.

Lilo watched several Lovelace skin-flicks and poured through sexy photographs of the Deep Throat star so that she could get her pose just right for photographer Tyler Shields.

The posters for Inferno were shot just before her ill fated trip to Cannes in France and celebrity shutterbug Shields is delighted with the results.

He told RadarOnline.com: “We did the shoot at a low-rent motel in the Valley so that the mood was just right.

“Lindsay was on fire for that shoot and the results speak for themselves - she was really on her ‘A’ game.

“She spent a lot of time researching by watching Lovelace movies and looking at photographs too.

“Lindsay was determined to get the poses just right and everybody was delighted with the results - I’m sure when filming starts she will do a great job,” Shields added.

“I spoke with her after her recent court appearance and her spirits were good, hopefully, the SCRAM bracelet will be removed before Inferno starts filming in September.”

The troubled actress believes that playing the tragic porn star can kick-start her faltering career and put her back on the Hollywood map.

Lovelace (real name Linda Boreman) is best known as the actress who starred in the 1972 hard core movie Deep Throat which went on to become the most successful porn film ever to be made.

.

The life story of Bronx born Boreman certainly has enough drama to potentially make a compelling movie.

Following the success of Deep Throat she denounced her pornography career claiming that she had been forced into it by her sadistic first husband before becoming a spokeswoman for the anti-porn movement.

She then went on to re-marry and have two children before controversially posing as Linda Lovelace for Leg Show magazine in 2000.

Tragically, she was involved in a fatal car crash two years later, suffering massive trauma and internal injuries which resulted in her death.

Both Courtney Love and Anna Faris had been touted to play Lovelace before Lohan emerged as the front-runner.

In recent years while Lohan’s personal life has been plagued with controversy her movie career has gone into a tail-spin too.

Most recently she was axed from The Other Side by director David Michaels before shooting even began.

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO INTERVIEW: Lindsay Lohan's Mom Says Partying Reports Are "Absolute Lies"

In the film - which co-stars Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morrisette - Lindsay would have played a grad student working on a desert island.

The firing reportedly took place because the The Other Side's financial backers were nervous about Lohan’s bankability at the box office.

Lohan has been missing from the big screen since 2007's psychological stripper flop I Know Who Killed Me and hasn't starred in a profitable film since 2004's Mean Girls.

Director Wilder - who helmed Your Name Here with Bill Pullman which still has not been released - reportedly wants Sam Rockwell to play opposite Lohan as one of her abusive husbands.
