Whitney Houston Death: Not Homicide, Investigation In Hands Of Coroner

The Beverly Hills Police Department held a press conference on Monday morning to discuss the death of Whitney Houston, revealing that they've concluded their preliminary investigation and have handed it over to the coroner's office.

The spokesperson confirmed that Whitney's body was initially found in the bathtub of her fourth floor Beverly Hilton Hotel room by a member of her personal staff, and was moved by a person or persons prior to any medical personnel arriving on the scene.

"We have concluded our portion of the investigation at the hotel," the spokesperson said, noting that it was an active death investigation — not a homicide investigation. "As of right now, it's a coroner's case."

Law enforcement officials found Lorazepam, Valium, and a sleeping medication in Whitney Houston's hotel room, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

The singer was found unresponsive by members of her entourage on Saturday afternoon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and she was declared dead by responding paramedics at 3:55 p.m. PST on the eve of the Grammy's.

Houston had "a plethora of sedatives including Lorazepam, Valium, Xanax, and a sleeping medication that was found in her hotel room," a law enforcement source tells us.

Whitney Houston's brother exclusively tells RadarOnline.com that he is "devastated" at the news of his sister's death.

Michael Houston, who is the son of legendary singer Cissy Houston, was crying on Sunday morning as he spoke to us about losing his famous sister at the age of 48.

“We are devastated. We don't have any other comment at this time but thank you for calling,” he told RadarOnline.com, but could barely get the words out he was so shaken.

Whitney Houston: Family & Friends Pay Last Respects In Hotel Room

Whitney Houston's body remains in the Beverly Hilton Hotel and RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that her close friends and family, including 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, are in the hotel room right now paying their last respects.

According to numerous sources close to the family, Los Angeles Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter entered the hotel room where Whitney's body remains around 9 p.m. PST and he is investigating alternate routes to get her body out of the hotel since a helicopter is unavailable.

Whitney was pronounced dead in the hotel at 3:55 p.m. PST after her bodyguard, Ray, found her and placed a 911 call at 3:43 p.m.

Whitney Houston died at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Saturday and RadarOnline.com has photos of the scene where the iconic star spent her final days.

The performer was staying on the fourth floor of the luxury hotel, which is where her body was found unresponsive yesterday afternoon after a 911 call was placed by hotel security at 3:43 p.m.

The Los Angeles Coroner finally removed Whitney’s body nine hours later, after spending several hours at the scene to begin the investigation into exactly what caused the I Will Always Love You singer’s death.

Her remains were transported to the morgue where an autopsy is expected to be performed within the next 48 hours.

But while Whitney’s body lay dead in the room, the annual pre-Grammys party hosted by her mentor Clive Davis went ahead as scheduled downstairs with stars like Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian and Gladys Knight in attendance.
