'What To Expect' Doesnt Live Up To Expectations

Posted on May 18, 2012 @ 08:45AM - Add a comment

Based on the best-selling advice book about the changes people face during pregnancy, this comedy hatches a half-dozen story lines with a huge ensemble cast.

The couples include Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison, Elizabeth Banks and Ben Falcone, and Dennis Quaid and Brooklyn Decker. Toss in Jennifer Lopez and Rodrigo Santoro (who want to adopt) and Chace Crawford and Anna Kendrick (who gets knocked up after a one-night stand) and you’ve got the main players.

Chris Rock pops up as an advicegiving member of the daddy equivalent of Fight Club. But even with all this talent, laughs are hard to come by, save for an occasional chuckle. Otherwise, it feels flat and formulaic, with each couple confronting predictable obstacles on the way to the delivery room.

Long story short: Lower your expectations.

Blake & Ryan: She Can't Stand His Mom!

Posted on May 17, 2012 @ 03:36PM - 2 comments

As they blissfully prepare to share their lives together in a new home, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's whirlwind eight-month romance has hit a major snag. The couple's recent visit to his hometown of Vancouver erupted into a showdown between the Gossip Girl starlet and the actor's beloved mother, Tammy — causing a furious Blake, 24, to storm off, a source tells Star.

"Tammy would like to see Ryan with a woman who's not in the movie business because she feels that, ultimately, actresses put their careers first," says the source. "And she thinks Blake is pressuring Ryan into settling down before he's ready. He [also] rushed into his first marriage, with Scarlett Johansson."

Indeed, Green Lantern costars Blake and Ryan, 35, are "unofficially engaged" and planning to wed in the summer of 2013 at the $2.6 million estate they recently purchased in sleepy Bedford, N.Y., the source reveals. But Tammy is urging them to relocate to Vancouver full-time. "She says when they have kids, Blake and Ryan should raise them in Canada because it's safer," says the source. "Blake refuses to even consider that, saying that she has to be in New York for work."

Bravo's Andy Cohen Tells All!

Posted on May 14, 2012 @ 11:05AM - Add a comment

In hindsight, maybe a boy who grew up obsessed with Susan Lucci — he even had his mom send him daily All My Children updates while at summer camp — was destined to shepherd the Real Housewives franchise. Still, no one could have predicted Andy Cohen would rise from lowly CBS intern to Bravo executive vice president and now famously sassy talk show host. Andy tells Star about penning a book, Most Talkative, about his journey.

Q: What does the title mean?
I was voted Most Talkative in high school. This is the story of how my mouth got me in trouble and helped me work my way up the ladder.

Q: Have you always been obsessed with pop culture?
I was born and then I crawled to the TV. I just always loved it. The idea that I am doing what I'm doing is just phenomenal.

Q: What will readers find most surprising about the book?
People assume that I just stumbled into this job. I think a lot of them are surprised to know that I'm actually working behind the scenes on all of the shows they love on Bravo.

Q: You also write about coming out of the closet.
It was so hard. There were no gay role models anywhere, much less on TV. I felt really alone. It also felt like the biggest risk I had ever taken.

Spring's Leading Ladies: Cameron, Kristen & More Take Over The Big Screen!

Posted on May 08, 2012 @ 05:34PM - Add a comment

From reimagined fairy tales to raunchy comedies and even some sci-fi fantasies, these women are headlining the season's biggest movies.

Cameron Diaz
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING
"It was really hard to sit down!" says Cameron Diaz about strapping on a giant prosthetic belly for this comedy based on the best-selling baby manual. So did playing a mother-to-be along with her costars, including Jennifer Lopez and Elizabeth Banks, get Cameron's biological clock ticking? "Oh my gosh, I'm not worried about that," she says. "I don't think that belly is what I should base wanting to be a mama on."

Kristen Stewart
SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN
Kristen Stewart's Snow White isn't just a timeless beauty; she's also part Joan of Arc, leading an army of knights to battle her evil stepmother (Charlize Theron), who wants to eat Snow's still-beating heart. But Kristen is glad not to be playing a blushing Bella. "It's so rare to have a female lead character be so proactive," she says. "She pushes her own story forward. It's always good for women to feel empowered."

Jersey Housewife Melissa: "Teresa Can Slap Me Around!"

Bravo's Jersey girls are bringing the drama for season four of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and Melissa Gorga is at the center of it all. "[Teresa Giudice] and I butt heads a lot," she tells Star of what to expect for the rest of this season.

But spitfire Melissa is willing to take it like a champ from her sister-in-law. "She can slap me around!"

Melissa, who promotes Voli Light Vodka, jokes. "I'm going to deal with it because I want [my husband, Joe] to have a sister. I really try my hardest to please her in any way I can and take anything she gives me for my husband."

"I get upset [with Teresa]," Joe admits. "It's tough."

'Desperate Housewives:' The Bitter End

Posted on May 04, 2012 @ 01:46PM - Add a comment

It's a wrap for Desperate Housewives! And for the cast and crew, insiders say, parting after eight long seasons hasn’t exactly been sweet sorrow.

Though Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria and Vanessa Williams — leaving out Teri Hatcher — chipped in to buy the crew a farewell gift a source says the recipients were less than impressed.

Crew members were all expecting something bigger, like the PT Cruisers the Friends crew got at the end of its run or the $1 million in cash Keanu Reeves gave the crew of The Matrix, but “all they got was low-end luggage!” the source explains. “They were so appalled, one crew member thought it was a joke!”

But the bags were at least better than what Teri has given the grips and gofers who have stood by them for eight years, says the source. “She hasn’t given a single gift!” the source claims.

“She’s too busy stripping her trailer of everything but the kitchen sink! She’s hired people to take out her TV, her couch and practically anything else that isn’t nailed down.”

Teri and her costars made millions while the crew toiled behind the scenes, so now, says the source, “They should all be embarrassed. It’s just not right.”

Lea & Cory: Playing House

Posted on May 03, 2012 @ 08:25AM - Add a comment

Glee costars Lea Michele and Cory Monteith are going to be roomies!

Although the pair only went public with their romance in February, "Lea is telling everyone she's never felt more sure about anything," a friend tells Star. And the actress, 25, had no doubts when she recently invited Cory to move in to her new $1.4 million two-bedroom abode in L.A. "She's ready for it all, starting with living together and planning their future," says the friend.

So how does Cory feel? Even though he's been sharing a place with three other guys, the actor initially resisted shacking up with Lea so soon, the pal reveals. "He'd prefer to maintain the status quo in their relationship. But she wouldn't take no for an answer, and he's sick of his roommate situation, so he's going along with it."

Still, Lea may be headed for heartbreak, since she's hoping for a permanent commitment. "Lea has said that she'd marry Cory tomorrow if he proposed," says the friend. But on Feb. 18, with Lea nowhere in sight, Cory, 29, got frisky with a mystery babe at California's Mammoth Mountain ski resort, as Star revealed.

Exclusive: O.C. Housewives Star Briana Shares Her Wedding Details!

Posted on May 01, 2012 @ 09:10AM - 11 comments

Here comes the bride! The Real Housewives of Orange County's Vicki Gunvalson is helping her daughter, Briana, plan her wedding. Star spoke exclusively with the duo at Erin Cole bridal boutique in Costa Mesa, Calif., about the details of the big day.

Q: How's the wedding planning going?
Vicki: The only issue I have is that we are over budget. We are at about $47,000, but who's counting? We spent a little bit more on the food and the venue, which we think is so important. We spent the money where it counts.

Q: What other details can you share with us?
Briana: It's taking place in Santa Barbara [on] a cliff overlooking the ocean. The ceremony will start at 4 p.m., so we will hit sunset on the cliff side, then cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 8 p.m. We're having a live band to kick off the evening's festivities.

Q: Is it going to be a big wedding?
B: No, it's kind of small. We're only inviting about 75 to 100 people... mostly family and very close friends.

Q: Most important, have you picked the dress?
B: [Yes.] I thought I found the dress at another store, actually. [But then I happened to go into Erin Cole.] I saw the dress that is now the one I'm going to wear. I started bawling, and so did my mom!

Bethenny Frankel Goes 'Skinnydipping'

Posted on Apr 30, 2012 @ 09:06AM - Add a comment

An aspiring actress in Los Angeles has her heart broken, moves to the Big Apple, becomes an unlikely reality TV star and meets the man of her dreams. No, Skinnydipping isn't Bethenny Frankel's autobiography, but the author and her heroine, Faith Brightstone, have a lot in common — including having to put up with high-maintenance housewives. The bestselling author tells Star about taking her first crack at fiction.

Q: Where did you get the idea to write a novel?
My publisher proposed the idea to me. I was reluctant at first, but then I finally understood it would be a great palate cleanser after my run on reality. The freedom of this process has been liberating.

Q: How did you find time to write?
If you're organized, don't procrastinate and come from a place of yes, you get it done. Take things step by step, day by day.

Q: How many of your experiences are in the book?
Everything I do in my business is inspired by the events of my life. Art imitates life.

Q: Who is Faith?
Faith is a creative, confused, ballsy, often misdirected woman trying to get somewhere and failing yet always passionate enough to believe that anything is possible.

Q: It sure seems like she has a lot in common with the author.
