Highlights included a punked-out version of "Cish Cash" (her recent collaboration with Basement Jaxx), the wistful new ballad "Heaven & Alchemy," and a raucous, Zeppelin-esque take on her recent single "Into a Swan" (complete with wild avian choreography).
Simply, there isn't anyone on the current musical landscape like Siouxsie—an artist who combines the dark glamour of Jim Morrison and raw energy of Iggy Pop together with her own uncompromising feminine wiles. For better than a quarter-century she's kicked ass, and has never been anyone's bimbo, victim, or whore. Why she isn't in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is beyond us, though she'd likely tell them to piss off if they called. Or should that be when they call?

Y'all must have been there the night after I was (Friday, opening night). Siouxsie looked fab, but the sound was so very muddy that it was hard to hear anything but the upper and lower registers of her voice. Those were frequently off-key, as she likely couldn't hear things, either.
The blame's certainly not on her; she was giving it her all. Seemed like the sound guy was asleep at the board.

A sober yoko was there and, cranky at not being able to have a pre-show beer, found herself transfixed and her mood completely transformed by the power of Siouxsie's performance. She and her band rocked Irving Plaza. Totally fun.
And the songwriting on Mantaray is above and beyond any piece of shit released last year; she completely trounces the 20-something twats. Only Courtney Love is a more fun front woman. But Siouxsie's discipline and skills have the edge over Love's bombastic bravado.
