I find this woman truly disturbing - and thanks to Oprah's golden endorsement of her reputedly un-original (and now best-selling) book, she's everywhere. Another social miscreant with the character of a pinworm is being celebrated as a model wife, mother, and puree-ist (like the serial home-wrecker turned patron saint Angelina Jolie, minus the blender). I don't wear rose-colored glasses; I know that people dump their spouses every day of the week.... but when's the last time you heard of someone dumping their spouse and getting their hooks into someone else before they've even unpacked from the honeymoon? And what are the odds of 'just happening to fall in love' with another mega-millionaire in a matter of days? And of course - the question that really looms large is - what the heck do these men see in this HER? She's nothing special in the looks department, and she drones on and on like an old woman. Maybe it's her prowess in the bedroom. If it is, come on rich guys; you can buy better than that!
As much as I enjoy Jerry Seinfeld's comedy - and he seems like a genuinely nice guy - let's be fair; old Jer seems to have a wee 'dysfunction' when it comes to women. Wasn't he pushing forty when he was dating Shoshanna - who was barely eighteen at the time? She's a bright, lovely woman (now) - but most well-adjusted men approaching forty aren't dating teenagers. Then, he hooks up with Jessica - and doesn't seem at all deterred by the fact that she's a newlywed (where are HIS ethics?) or the fact that she was willing to dump her brand new husband for him without looking back. Mrs. S. may provide them with a healthy diet, but I sure hope the kids have other adult role models to teach them personal ethics and integrity - because when it comes to your folks...NO SOUP FOR YOU!
