Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on August 21, 2008 2:19 PM If Fredric Uberall Dicker dropped his last name, moved to Sacramento to cover the state political scene there, decided it was too much work for one person and cloned himself, he'd be California Uberalles. Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on June 17, 2008 1:57 PM Based on the motley randoms who benefited, this program seems oddly targeted. Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on June 13, 2008 12:04 PM That Spy takedown of him was the best. Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on June 13, 2008 12:01 PM Holbrooke's getting a little old for secretary of state, no? Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on June 13, 2008 12:00 PM Thank you Choire. That show is the worst. I thought they were going to keep it in the WNYC-AM 820 ghetto but one morning about a month ago, I woke up to something like this on the FM station: "This week the federal government will decide whether to put the polar bear on the endangered list. What's on your endangered list - enough sleep? time with your family?" I've phased out WNYC in the morning as a result. Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on June 11, 2008 11:08 AM Yuck. This is true insideritis. You really believe that Hillary should withdraw because the power-brokers don't want her? Humphrey lost in 1968, and McCarthy didn't rally the antiwar forces, because Humphrey ran in support of the war. Blame McCarthy if you like but if he had tried to rally the antiwar movement for HHH they would have abandoned him. But you can't blame 40 years of Republican rule on McCarthy. Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale and Mike Dukakis had something to do with it too. And ten months into Nixon's term, Humphrey met Nixon and declared he was on the right path in Vietnam. Nothing like that will happen this year. There are no policy divisions. All the Democrats who voted in the primaries will vote for Obama - unless, of course, they don't think he would do a very good job. (Actually, it's McCain's election that's more likely to be the death knell of conservatism. The conservatives will thrive under Obama. But if you really believe Packer's rosy scenario, search kausfiles for "cocooning.") Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on May 30, 2008 3:44 PM They picked the wrong Joe Cocker song. I'd have liked if they danced to his Woodstock rendition of "A Little Help From My Friends" or maybe the Belushi impression of same. Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on May 12, 2008 11:02 AM "America Coming Together" (if only...) was either the worst or the best name for a 527 group in political history. Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on April 18, 2008 6:06 PM That's annoying, I made her track my profile song. Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on March 13, 2008 3:25 PM I have to stick up for Eliot on this. There's no basis to say that he is a "streetwalker aficionado"; all evidence suggests he sticks exclusively to high-end call girls. Posted by: Ambitious Heckler on March 11, 2008 10:57 PM The money for this can be raised in about 15 minutes. When you think about the hundreds of millions Hillary and Obama have spent to bludgeon each other into a standstill, along with the guaranteed disaster if this isn't resolved before the convention, the money for these revotes seems trivial. They can take soft money donations in unlimited amounts so it's not the same money pool the candidates are confined to. Sorensen is widely know to have written the whole book (Profiles In Courage). Saying it was written by Kennedy with Sorensen's "guidance" is a polite fiction.
