First of all, CMV (cytomegalovirus) is not and STD/STI. There are 7 recognized forms of herpes, and only two are STDs. CMV ain't one of them. Almost everyone, including infants, is exposed to CMV, and most have no sequelae (meaning, the infection passes without incident). However, CMV is a primary cause of deafness in children, and it can kill.
The point of the Duke research is that an already-developed vaccine for CMV-induced deafness in children may be useful in treating brain glioblastomas.
There is no "sex" aspect to this story, morons. Maybe next time you could lift a finger to do a Google search for CMV, or look at that medical authority, Wikipedia.
