I have a feeling that deep down inside some representatives of these Western media outlets must feel relieved - the likes of Applebaum, etc.

And I forgot: listen to Prince:)...

I'm no lawyer, but my advice/gut feeling would be to say: 'Get out! Tie up loose ends as much as possible, keeping contact with the Russian authorities to a minimum, and board the first plane going West, or even anywhere.'

So it looks like the Russian authorities have finally learned English:)..

Why not just create an online social network on a platform like Ning and transfer the Exile over there? It wouldn't cost a kopeck, it's free. Or even, set up shop in Second Life? There's just the monthly fee of $10-15 to pay, and it has Russian-language communities/spaces too. Plus, it would take a while for the Russian government to figure out to find you there...

On the donations front: wouldn't it be a motivating factor to give your audience some kind of target sum?.. And, your web design skills permitting, add a little virtual thermometer that shows how much has been collected so far.
