Variety reports that HBO has bought the development rights to Sloane Crosley's best-selling essay collection I Was Told There'd Be Cake. The author says any possible show based on her book would have "more of a 'Larry David' vibe than a Sex and the City vibe." Which makes sense when you consider that Crosley is a balding, manic Jew. Radar spoke with Crosley back in February for a Q&A which featured the stunningly unimaginative headline "The Sloane Ranger." Sorry about that one.
