Funny Flashback! Katie Holmes Sings On My Own On Dawson’s Creek

Yes, Katie Holmes really is on her own -- if you don’t count Suri.
With the world going gaga over the new movie version of the musical Les Miserables, and especially newcomer Samantha Barks’ heartbreaking rendition of On My Own, we thought we’d take a look back at another famous face who once sang the classic song.
Long before she was Mrs. Tom Cruise, on the very first season of The WB's teen angst drama Dawson's Creek, Katie Holmes’ character Joey Potter competed in Capeside's Miss Windjammer Pageant. In the 1998 episode, a young Holmes sang On My Own from Les Mis, which seems particularly fitting now in the wake of her divorce from the Jack Reacher star.

Fun fact: In 2008, 22-year-old Barks took home third place at the UK singing competition, I'd Do Anything. Despite not winning the top prize, her impressive vocals caught the eye of legendary theater producer Cameron Mackintosh, who cast her in the West End's Oliver! and eventually, Les Miserables.
