Katy Perry Pulls Out Of People's Choice Awards Amid Divorce

Katy Perry's first public appearance since hubby Russell Brand filed for divorce was supposed to be the People's Choice Awards this week, but RadarOnline.com has learned the Fireworks singer is no longer attending.
"Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards," Katy tweeted to her fans on Monday.
"I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed!"

After spending the holidays apart — Katy was in Kauai and Russell was in England — both were spotted without their wedding rings on.
Russell, 36, filed for divorce from Katy, 27, on December 30, 2011 citing "irreconcilable differences."

Katy is nominated for six People's Choice Awards, including Favorite Tour Headliner and Favorite Pop Artist.
The People's Choice Awards air Wednesday night on CBS.

i think it is b/c of her insane and horrible parents, and their crazed idiotical ways since her divorce was announced. i hope she puts them in their place once and for all so she can get on with her life.nothing to do with russell at all.

Doubt it had anything to do with her divorce, more likely it had to do with her crazed, neo-nazi parents! How embarrassing for Katy... so yes, better to "stay at home"!

i said the same thing but they took my post off. she will need to stand up to her parents, and get some help and find herself to have a successful marriage..hopefully she will let go of them, and find her way to a healthy new relationship.

yep, and i also think, that even if russell and she werent meant to be that until she puts her parents in their place and gets therapy for herself, given where she has come from.i dont think a marriage will work out for her..too crazy.

She's not doing it is because of the backlash over the statements her parents made and because she doesn't want to be asked about not being supportive to Russel in regards to his sobriety. There will be a huge story about this any day now.

Katy has fans all over the world. Katy should win a bunch of awards this year. I love that latest single "The One That Got Away". The video for it was really good. I'm looking forward to her next album I know that.

Oh well, maybe we can see Katy on one of the talk shows pretty soon. Hopefully, she'll be okay to go to the Grammy awards where I bet she'll win a few awards too. Her "Teenage Dream" album was a smash hit with 5-6 #1 hits on it.

What a bummer. I was hoping to see her at the People's Choice awards. I bet she wins a few of those awards. I guess she just needs some more time to deal with the messy divorce stuff. I wonder if Katy decided not to go because Russell was going.
