Kate Hudson's biological father, Bill Hudson, wants to make amends with his children, and RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that he's eager to meet his two grandchildren.

"I haven't met any of my grandchildren, but I'd like to meet them one day," Bill told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview.

"I hope to make amends."

While Bill, 62, acknowledges that there was a time in Kate's adult life when the two reconnected, he said that once she married Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson and had their son Ryder, the relationship fell apart again.

"By 2005 it was back to absolute nothingness… I regret that I was absent from their life for a long period of time," Bill said of his estrangement from Kate and Oliver Hudson. "I should have fought harder."

Kate, 32, has two children -- eight-year-old Ryder with Chris and six-month-old Bingham -- with current fiance Matthew Bellamy.

Since divorcing Goldie Hawn in 1980, Bill, once a member of the legendary band, The Hudson Brothers, has remained relatively quiet in the media regarding his family life, until now.

"The book in some ways is an apology to Oliver and Kate," Bill explained of his new tell-all book, Two Versions: The Other Side of Fame and Family.

"They're my children. They're not celebrities to me."

He was cut out of his children's lives in a divorce. Once that happens, it's almost impossible to restore the bond in later years. People can be pretty major a-holes, even your own children. No one forgives. He should let them go and move on.

Let me get this straight - you are an **absent** father, you write a tell-all book, and now you want to reunite with your kids??

Hey, Bill: maybe you shouldn't have written that tell-all then!

If my spouse took the kids and left me, refused to let them be in my life and turn them against me, I would be bitter too. I feel sorry for this guy, Goldie did him wrong.

None of you have read the book. What Goldie did was awful and there is legal proof of it. Read the book and see how frustrated he was trying to maintain his scheduled visitation days when Goldie would take the kids out of the country.

Hey Bill...remind me again how old Kate was when you abandoned her...then you write a tell all?...oh right, you need money to bury your mother...that's when all this came out...you need to go f#$k yourself

i doubt making amends is going to happen when you put out a tell all book about your family.

Maybe it's just me, but writing a tell-all book and talking to the tabloids isn't a very good way to "make amends."

No, it's not just you. I absolutely agree! This guy is certifiable. He has been slamming his own kids and their Mother for YEARS with his whiny, bitter self. I cannot believe he THINKS all that will be forgotten. Too late dude...

I agree KikNC it would make me mad and drive me further away....he can say what he wants to the whole world but it wont make a bit of difference to the people he wants to get to...what a cry baby he is
