Tom Cruise is turning 49 today, and celebrating the event with his family in Miami.
Born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV in Syracuse, NY, the actor has been one of the biggest stars in Hollywood for a stunning three decades.
Cruise's first major movie role was in 1983's The Outsiders. Later in the same year, he broke through with his first starring role in Risky Business, and he's never looked back.
The Top Gun, Jerry Maguire and Mission: Impossible star has been married three times and is the father of three.
Katie Holmes & Suri Cruise Take A Dip
Cruise is known as a devoted dad, and his two teenage kids from his marriage to Nicole Kidman flew into Miami to surprise their father on his birthday. He's equally devoted to the controversial Church of Scientology.
He's in Miami now shooting Rock of Ages with Russell Brand. Wife Katie Holmes and five-year-old daughter Suri are with him on his big day.
