Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes celebrated her birthday Saturday night by hitting up two of Manhattan's hippest restaurants, RadarOnline.com has learned.

The couple started the night just off Broadway at ABC Kitchen, Jean-Georges Vongerichten's latest eatery with a farm-to-table menu and casually elegant vibe. Then they were off for dessert at Gemma in the nearby Bowery Hotel.

Tom and Katie and daughter Suri began their birthday celebration Friday when, as RadarOnline.com reported, they took in a performance of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker, going backstage afterward to meet with members of the New York City Ballet.

The family is staying at their apartment in New York City for at least part of the holidays. Tom will be resuming production of Mission: Impossible 4 in January.

I seem to remember Nicole Kidman was like that while she was married to Tom. It was only after they split up and she married Keith Urban did she finally looked happy, and relaxed. I think Tom's ego sucks up all personality.
