Oscar and Grammy-winner Jennifer Hudson chatted with Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa Monday about her svelte new figure and her continued success on the silver screen.

The Chicago native, 29, said it took her six months to achieve her new figure, and she's dropped so much, others aren't even recognizing her these days.

She said she'll overhear fans saying, "That looks like Jennifer Hudson, but Jennifer Hudson ain't that skinny."

Hudson also dished on her upcoming movie Winnie, a biopic about Nelson Mandela's wife. She said she just completed a four-month shoot on the film in South Africa, where she said she enjoyed local wildlife (snakes, lions) as well as the county's changing social norms.

"It is true when they say South Africa is changing," she said.

Winnie, which co-stars Terrence Howard, hits theaters next year.
