Michael Douglas is in a “precarious” state of health and is “suffering.”
That’s what director Oliver Stone told reporters in Berlin on Tuesday, RadarOnline.com learned.

Douglas, 66, has been bravely battling throat cancer but Stone’s remarks gave a little more insight into how difficult that battle is.
The director said that the legendary actor was supposed to join him in Europe to promote the movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

Douglas has been seen taking his daughter to school and did attend his movie’s premiere in New York several weeks ago.
Despite Stone’s remarks, Michael’s wife Catherina Zeta-Jones recently said that her husband is doing “very well” and finishing his treatment. His publicist said Douglas will need a six-week recovery period after finishing his treatment.

His treatment was scheduled to last eight weeks, according to Access Hollywood, which quoted his publicist Alan Burry saying the actor expects to make a full recovery.
Douglas previously told David Letterman that he has an 80 percent chance of survival.

My heart just goes out to him and his family. Cigarettes should be banned. As an ex-smoker of 20 years of now being smoke free, I can attest to the fact that once you just get off of them, you will wonder why you ever started.

Most of all I am saying a prayer for his comfort. I can tell by his face he's really suffering with sores in his mouth etc. I've seen this all before. I wish we had a cure for cancer. It's so mean.

I doubt this was a cakewalk for MD. I hope he improves and his suffering stops. What a terrible disease!

Im glad he spoke out after being diagnose about being a life long smoker and drinker. There is nothing sexy about cancer or chemo and if you smoke to stay thin...beware you could get thin beyond your control. I wish him the best.

Interesting. I didn't realize he was a smoker. Obviously he had to have been if he has throat cancer. He's very luck it wasn't lung cancer or else his chances for surviving would be minimal

I am a survivor of this type cancer. After treatment is the worse. It takes at a minimum of 8 weeks just
to START feeling normal. Chemo/radiation can take care of the cancer without surgery unless the lymph nodes are involved.

Someone posted he had stage 4 cancer???? If there is any truth to that, the cancer did spread to his lymph nodes. I find it hard to believe he has stage 4 cancer because I always thought that meant death.

Michael said it was stage four initially and then Catherine confirmed it when he first found out. Stage four is deadly and therefore, if he is hopeful, perhaps he got that part wrong. I am hoping he beats it but if it is stage four, not good.

People who've had these treatments say the last week is the toughest. Hopefully, he'll be back up and running soon.
