Portia de Rossi’s request to take her daytime talk-show wife’s last name has been granted making her legal name Portia Lee James DeGeneres.

Ellen DeGeneres’ wife Portia filed a decree to change her name with the Los Angeles Superior Court and RadarOnline.com has learned the change was approved on Thursday.

The couple was married at a small, private ceremony at their home on August 16, 2008 and despite the passing of Proposition 8, they remain legally married by a Supreme Court judgment because their vows occurred before November 4, 2008.

Ellen poked fun at the exciting news via her Twitter account saying, “I just got some amazing news. The court has granted Portia's name change. She's now officially Portia Winfrey.”
