Piers Morgan better hope his guests open up more than he did.

The British journalist was coy about his future employment options -- namely taking over for Larry King when the talk show legend ends his 25-year run on CNN this autumn -- while appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Tuesday, all but confirming our exclusive reports that the England native is a lock for the coveted gig.

Asked by Leno about the swirling rumors, Morgan responded, "I can't actually talk about it; All I can say is ... I just signed a 3-year contract with America's Got Talent."

More cajoling from Leno led nowhere, leading Morgan to say he was "sorry to be cryptic" about the touchy issue.

As RadarOnline.com was first to report on June 30, Morgan, 45, has been wooed by CNN with a multi-million deal to freshen up the void left by King, whose dropping ratings and recent marital woes might have hastened his departure from the network.

Morgan has a high profile in Britain, where he's the former editor of The Mirror paper and a judge on Britain's Got Talent, among other accolades. He sat on the panel to judge Susan Boyle's breakout performance of I Dreamed A Dream, and has also been seen on Celebrity Apprentice and America's Got Talent.
