When Today host Meredith Vieira asked him about the progress of the couple's son Redmond -- who was incarcerated on drug charges at the time of his mother's  death on  June 25, 2009 -- O'Neal said, "I'm extremely relieved and gratified by his progress in the last year," and that Fawcett "would be proud of him" if she were alive today.

O' Neal commented that he thinks the positive changes for Redmond, who he said is currently in a sober-living facility in Pasadena, California, are due to a deathbed promise he made to his ailing mother last year.

Redmond needs to stay strong and stay away from friends and FAMILY members that do not support his sobriety or will later try to mooch off him since his mother willed him a lot of money. Redmond needs to help others, lest he will be tempted w/money.
