Country star Mindy McCready is in the hospital after mixing prescription drugs, “but I don’t want to call it an overdose,” her mom, Gayle McCready Inge tells RadarOnline.com exclusively.

Mindy has been visiting her mom in Fort Myers, Florida and “I heard the door open at 4:20 or something this morning,” Gayle says. When she checked on Mindy, “She was sitting up on her computer, so she wasn’t out or anything.”

Gayle says she gave her 34-year-old daughter pain killers, “Yeah I gave them to her, they’re mine because she broke her toe Saturday and she was in excruciating pain.”
When asked if Mindy had an overdose, Gayle says “to be honest she was saying absolutely not, that didn’t happen. She was just in pain and she might have mixed something she shouldn’t of. She’s already on some meds.”

This is significant because Mindy and her mother have been at odds for a few years, and most recently they were in court in a custody battle over Zander.
Gayle says “I just felt like she was disoriented and I called 911.” Gaye says “It is getting taken care of. I think she’s ok.” As for Zander, Gayle says “He is fine.. He’s going to go (to the hospital) with me.”

Mindy is now listed in good condition. And, her publicist asks that she “appreciates your thoughts and prayers at this time.”

So her mom gave her meds not prescribed to her, in a dose that is far too strong and then calls the paramedics. Smells fishy to me.

Mindy seems to have more than just an addiction concern. If she was fine, the paramedics wouldn't have transported her. They would have told her to see her own physician at her convenience. It WAS SOMETHING but watch for the spin....

She has a history of seizures. If she's on anti-seizure meds and her mom added the darvocet, the combination could be enough to cause her to appear "out of it".

You cannot apply the law concerning dispensing meds with out a license to this scenario. The fact that she freely gave her daughter, who has an addiction and is now supposedly sober, a narcotic is just glaringly bad judgment.

Even if this wasn't Mindy's fault she probably should let her mom keep her son for now. Too much instability around her life.

Her mother should be arrested for dispensing Rx medications without a license. She is either a horrible enabler or she's setting Mindy up to get permanent custody of the kid she's been aiming for. This won't look good in court.
