EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Dr. Drew Hopes Lindsay Lohan Will Be Sentenced To Rehab Not Jail

Dr. Drew Pinsky, host of the VH-1 hit series, Celebrity Rehab, has some words of advice for the the judge handling Lindsay Lohan's legal mess, "It's my sincere hope that an enlightened judge will not sentence Lindsay Lohan to jail, if indeed she is found to have violated terms of her probation.

“If Lindsay is found the be in violation," Dr. Drew told RadarOnline.com, "I hope the judge will order Lindsay into a long-term residential treatment program. Jail isn't the worst choice, but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice for Lindsay. The only way some people find sobriety is by being in jail, so in some cases it does work. Lindsay doesn't seem to be motivated to get help, it appears that she is fighting this entire process, and that obviously makes it so much harder for everyone involved."

Dr. Drew says there could be cause for concern at Lindsay being prohibited from consuming any alcohol, or illegal substances, "There is always a cause for concern when someone suddenly stops drinking and taking illegal drugs. A person can have medical issues such as withdrawing and going through detox. Someone in that situation should be monitored. However, there are some prescription medications that can block withdrawl symptons. If Lindsay is indeed taking prescription medications such as Adderall, or benzodiazepines I would advise that she abstain from taking those types of medications, as they can impede her recovery process." Dr. Drew wants to emphasize that he isn't treating Lindsay and isn't aware of any prescription drugs she might be taking.

Dr. Drew says he was saddened by Lindsay's court appearance on Monday, "Lindsay's situation just deeply saddens me. I have always said she is an amazingly talented actress, and will make a wonderful sober person someday. I just hope it happens to her at a young age, as she is only 23."

I'm still on the fence over Pinsky's intentions because IMO, while he may really care, he is also exploiting these ppl who have addiction problems, making money off of them while trying to get them healthy.

I'm loving this judge! Linds and any other star who snubs the law should be treated just like any one else..probation violated, jail time, extend the probation, order community service, random drug/alcohol testing, etc.

And I agree, if she's violated the terms of her probation, she should also go to jail. This girl is a classic example of somebody who needs to have a stark reminder she isn't special. I support this judge for her efforts in showing her just that.

Lindsay needs detox, counseling about her OWN choices she's made as an adult, and a noteworthy PR firm that has a track record for damage control. She's a serious addict and alcoholic. This is isn't a ho hum what ya pickin' on me for.

Of course he wants her to go to rehab....that's how he makes his money. It's sad how many people are cashing in on her addictions.

very true. it's already been reported his show contacted her to be on and offered 1 million dollars and she turned them down. He reminds me of someone else who keeps talking about her for attention... who would that be???

I agree with Dr. Drew. Jail is no place for any addict, this girl needs serious treatment.

Oh, forgot, he's hoping the sentence to rehab will be to his show! He's looking out for himself instead of her well being.

Drew Pinksky is a physician. He's one of the top addiction specialists in this country. I bet that he knows more than you do about this. Just because he has a television show to bring awareness + net him money doesn't make him bad.
