VIDEO: Barbara Walters Scheduled For Heart Surgery

Barbara Walters has revealed she's going to undergo major heart surgery, RadarOnline.com has learned. The legendary 80-year-old journalist said on The View Monday she's "going to have surgery to replace one faulty heart valve."
Walters’ news came as a surprise to her co-hosts on The View, who learned about the procedure only on Monday. When commended by co-host Joy Behar for keeping the secret well, Walters said she "thought it best not to talk about it too far in advance."

Walters said she learned about the condition during an echocardiogram, and that she's strategically timed her procedure, which has a recovery time of up to three months, around the season.

"Since the summer is coming up," she said, "I can take a nice vacation."
Walters said she plans to come "roaring back in September."

I do not watch The View anymore either. All that talking over each other. Joy uses the show to tell crude,rude,&cruel jokes that hurt people. Elisabeth's closed-minded opinions,and Whoopi pitting black against white was too much for me.

Haven't watched the View in years b/c it always ended up being a discussion of black vs white. Emailed show requesting the hosts discuss more current issues w/o a racial twist but things never changed. Wouldn't be surprised if this is their last yr.

I hope Barbara will use her status in educating women that 1 out of every 2 women will develop heart disease. Also maybe she'll be an advocate and raise money for more research regarding female heart disease.

ita. i find them far more offensive than elizabeth but it's the same thing with them. they bring in ratings and baba wawa would do anything for ratings.
