REPORT: Kate Winslet "Fuming" At Ex-Husband

While Kate Winslet has maintained her silence since her sudden split from film director Sam Mendes, the Oscar winning actress is fuming her ex is back in touch with his one-time squeeze Rachel Weisz.

Winslet, winner of the 2009 best actress Oscar for "The Reader", married Mendes, awarded the Academy Award for best director in 2000 for "American Beauty", in May 2003.
They announced their shock split in March.

Now, according to the Mail on Sunday in Britain, the 34-year-old actress is seething that her estranged husband has resumed contact with his ex-girlfriend.
Mendes, 44, has been widely tipped to direct the new James Bond movie and, according to industry sources, is determined to cast Weisz, 40, as one of the villains.

"As soon as Kate and Sam split, he was on the phone asking Rachel if she was interested in doing the movie," reported the tabloid.
"Rachel has always been persona non grata in the Winslet-Mendes household, and Kate went ballistic when she heard that Sam wanted to hire her."
"Sam has wanted to work with Rachel for ages, but Kate would not allow it."
"Although they ran in the same Hollywood circles, they avoided each other."

This was funny to read because I always get Kate Winslet and Rachel Weisz confused because they look so much alike- I guess this Mendes guy has a type.

totally agree stonebudzz, why is she making such a fuss??? there divorcing, she can't control his likes nor dislikes just like he can't control her and hers.... however, i have always loved Kate and admire her.

i read that they had seperated a few months before they announced the split so it wasnt exactly 'sudden'. plus, they have done the trial seperation once before.

Everyone should take into consideration that all of the rumours (first Rebecca Hall, now Rachel Weisz) come from the same source: The Daily Mail. How on earth would they know what it was like in the Winslet-Mendes household??
