The Jersey Shore stars are getting a reality check when it comes to the high-priced night life in Miami Beach. You need deep pockets to hang out at the hot spots, and RadarOnline.com has learned that the cash the cast members are spending is their own.

“These guys are dropping easily $400 dollars a night on drinks and I don’t know how long they can keep it up.” a source told RadarOnline.com.

While many assumed that MTV would pay for the party, the network does not. And the Jersey Shore group is finding it financially demanding to hit the town at $12 per drink. The Jersey Shore’s new location of South Beach is one of the most expensive tourist spots in the country.

“The cast feels like boycotting some nights out because of the crazy prices and MTV doesn’t pick up the tab” said a source.

The solution, however, is that the cast sometimes gets drinks comped when they are out. “Certain places send over drinks for free, or provide bottles,” the source told RadarOnline.com.
Without that generosity Season Two would feature a lot more footage of everyone in the house, too broke to go out.

BOTTOM LINE: Hell yeah, the cast should boycott going out especially if they have to pay for drinks or anything. If MTV wants them to act the part and continue setting records, then MTV should DO THE RIGHT THING AND PAY.

The Hills, while a great show, became lame and their cast still got paid. It took the Hills years to achieve the record-breaking ratings and stardom that Jersey Shore has and Jersey Shore did it with one season ("one shot" as Ronnie said it) .

That is totally ridiculous. While it's true that the cast does supposedly receive $10,000 per episode, MTV was more than willing to pay the cast of the Hills $60,000 - $120,000+ per episode, plus perks (just look at Heidi Montag's plastic surgery).

With the success of Jersey Shore, MTV has had no problem increasing the amount of money they charge for advertising, but have a problem with paying for $12 drinks for the cast who has, in one season, brought their network from near extinction.

MTV is ridiculous. How are they not going to pay for drinks. Do they not remember how much money the cast has made, is making, and will be making for them and they can't afford to cover their drinks?

This story seems a little far-fetched considering the cast negotiated for $10k per episode. I think they can afford to drink in Miami!
