Kate Winslet and Husband Sam Mendes Split

After nearly seven years of marriage, Kate Winslet and American Beauty director Sam Mendes have decided to separate.

A lawyer for the actress confirmed the news on Monday.

The split was "entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement," the statement from Keith Schilling read.
"Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family."
They wed on May 24, 2003, on the Caribbean island of Anguilla. They welcomed a son Joe Alfie in December 2003. Winslet also has a daughter named Mia Honey from her previous marriage to Jim Threapleton.
Mendes directed Winslet and her Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio in the acclaimed 2008 film Revolutionary Road.

i so agree why announce it and ask for privacy, that doesn't make sense so to at all

why do all the hollyweirds announce private information and then ask for privacy? why not just keep your lips zipped?

I think Kate is the most beautiful actress around. Sad news.

She is my favorite actress but obviously has commitment issues (two marriages by age 34??).
