EXCLUSIVE: Precious Star Gabourey Sidibe's Mom Wants To Compete On America's Got Talent

“The truth is Gabourey would like to lose some weight but the reality is that she would not have gotten the role of Precious if she had not been heavy," Ridley said. “As her mom I would like to see my daughter healthy but if she didn’t lose weight that’s not a problem either – it runs in our family."

In fact, they "have relatives that are 80-years-old who are too heavy" so "it works in different ways for different folks."

Regardless of whether her daughter loses weight or not, Ridley has full faith Gabourey will continue thriving as an actress.

“I’m proud of my daughter no matter what and the truth is that there are all kinds of acting roles for all sorts of people.”

The Precious star’s body has come under scrutiny in recent times with shock-jock Howard Stern cruelly mocking her for being overweight. Rumors have also been circulating around Hollywood that producers want her to do Celebrity Fit Club. A diet company has also reportedly reached out to the actress to get her to endorse their product.

Hear Howard Stern’s Attack

However, Ridley has yet to hear anything about the reality show or product deals.

“I have not heard anything about her appearing on Celebrity Fit Club or any of these dieting companies getting Gabby to try and endorse their products.

People this heavy cannot clean themselves when they go to the bathroom. Why isn't this ever mentioned that they smell very bad?

Gastric bypass is not permanent; your stomach can stretch back out again and you can gain all of the weight back. It takes a bit of time, but you CAN do it. Look at Carnie Wilson.

G's mother should be arrested for child abuse. She is the ONLY one to fault over her daughter's obesity. She should be punished for putting her daughter's life at risk.

The gastric bypass is permanent, plus,if the person don't follow the diet after the gastric bypass they will have alot of other health problems..w/the stomach band they can have it removed.if they get tired of the diet...

My friend who lost the 100 pounds 10 years ago and kep it off after gastric bypass followed the diet. It is permanent. It's a drastic solution to a drastic problem. If you foolishly don't stick to the diet, the whole surgery was pointless.
