Jersey Shore's Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio were good sports as they posed for photographers at LAX in Los Angeles on Thursday -- and we couldn’t help but notice that they weren’t flanked by security, like so many celebs are at the airport.

Sorrentino wore a sharp black winter coat, button-up shirt and designer jeans. DelVecchio, with his trademark hairdo gelled to perfection, wore a dark green shirt, jeans and Nike basketball shoes.

Despite criticism from Italian-American groups and loss of sponsors such as Domino's and Dell, the controversial reality hit continues surging in popularity, with plenty of dust-ups, hook-ups and break-ups fueling each episode. The show's season finale brought 4.8 million viewers to MTV, more than three times the ratings of its' season premiere.

Sorrentino shot back at his critics on the Today Show earlier this week.

“We’re just being ourselves,” Sorrentino told the Today Show this week. “We’re not saying we’re the definition of Jersey, the definition of New York, the definition of Italian or what have you. I just happen to be Italian. I happen to have spiky hair and a six-pack and I’m proud to have that, and if you don’t like me, I don’t care. I’ve still got 5 million viewers on Thursday nights at 10 p.m.”

I started watching this show - with complete horror with my sixteen year old. Now - like my other middle-age Momma's - we love the show !, to the complete horror of our kids too. These guys remind me of the college kids in our area.

"celebrity" is a bit of a stretch...at least these boys seem to realize their time's almost us, so they aren't wasting any money on bodyguards and stuff. a year from now, they'll be BEGGING someone to recognize them.

Most celebrities don't need an entourage. They just want one.
