VIDEO: Top 12 Women Are Hot and Cold With American Idol Judges

It was Ladies night on Tuesday as the top 12 women took on The Beatles, Heart and a bevy of Billboard chart topping songs.

Other than a few standout performances, the women failed to impress the judges, as over and over again the resounding theme from the judges was poor song choice.

Fan favorite Ashley Rodriguez sang Leona LewisHappy but fell short in Simon’s eyes.

“It was clumsy,” he told her. “I actually think you’re going backwards.”

Paige Miles, Janelle Wheeler and Haeley Vaughn all seemed to struggle with their performances.

“Even if it was a mess, it was a hot mess,” Ellen told Vaughn after she attempted “I Want To Hold Your Hand” by the Beatles.

The best of the night included Katelyn Epperly’s rendition of another Beatles hit Oh Darlin, Lilly Scott who sang a very indie version of the Fab Four’s Fix It Right and Crystal Bowersox who channeled Alanis Morissette (Harmonica and all) with Hand In My Pocket.
