Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen Found Dead At 40

Top British fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead at his home Thursday.

There are reports out of England that McQueen took his own life as he was found hanging in his apartment in the Mayfair area of London.
His death comes just days after his beloved mother Joyce died last week, posts on his Twitter account show the 40-year-old designer had been battling grief following her death. On February 3rd, he wrote: “I'm letting my followers know the my mother passed away yesterday if it she had not me nor would you RIP mumxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx... “
Moments later, he added: 'But life must go on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Three years ago almost to the day McQueen also lost his close friend Isabella Blow, who was credited with discovering the fashion talent and helped make him a star, she also killed herself.
McQueen had been working hard in the run up to his death, he was working on his new collection that he was due to unveil at Paris Fashion Week on March 9.

The designer was a favorite of the stars, designing for Lady Gaga, Rihanna and even Prince Charles, amongst others.
A rep from McQueen's office released a statement saying, "At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with McQueen's family."
