Conan O’Brien packed plenty into his next-to-last evening as host of The Tonight Show Thursday, with another super-expensive bit and a memorable interview with guest Robin Williams.

"You've only been host for seven months," Williams said of O’Brien’s short-lived tenure as host of NBC’s late night franchise. "It's an annulment. Except you got screwed."

Williams serenaded O'Brien with an "Irish ditty," and launched into an obscene song with the lyrics, "F*** NBC," before composing himself with a heartfelt send-off to the lame duck host, calling him "an old Indian word, a mensch." ("Mensch" is actually Yiddish for a person of integrity and honor.)

Read his contract, there was no time clause . He was asked to start 30 minutes later to help both shows. He now gets millions while his staff is out of a job. nbc didn't put them out of a job. Conan did. His actions just added to the unemployed.

I'm on team CoCo but I think he made out just fine. He gave his staff more than their contracts were worth out of his own pocket and still has $30 million left. Enjoy Conzie. Take your family on a trip and have some fun until September.

Those were very nice words from Robin Williams. Conan really seems like a nice guy who was in it for the long haul. NBC is loosing a good man.

There is more to life than just money believe it or not. NBC trashed Conan's reputation and breached his contract. He's perfected his craft and entered into the agreement in good faith. They OWE HIM THIS MONEY. Whether you like it or not.

NBC did this sort of thing to many others including but not limited to David Letterman and look where he is now! They are FAMOUS for bad broadcasting decisions. Nothing new except that Conan is the latest and just so damn good.

Leno was forced to do this 5 yrs ago. Conan couldn't capture the Leno audience. He should have stayed where he was & not threatened to leave NBC. Once Leno was READY to retire the job would have been his. To me Conan forced Leno out too.

Who is driving the ship at NBC? NBC said they knew Leno wouldn't do well in the 10PM slot. Why did you give Leno a 2 yr. contract in that slot knowing you had already had a 5 yr, $45 mil. contract w/Conan? Both contracts were iron clad, too. DAH!

Hey Cassy, Leno was getting the job done as Tonights host. He left at the top of the game. Conan blew it. If he could have held an audience against Letterman he might have kept his dream job.
