Roman Polanski Ordered To Return To The United States For Sentencing

After 32 years after his sex case began, Roman Polanski has been ordered to return to the United States for sentencing.

The director fled the country in 1978 after pleading guilty to having unlawful sex with an under-age girl. He was arrested in September after attempting to enter Switzerland where he has since been held under house arrest.
Roman Polanski To Stay In Swiss Jail... For Now
Superior Court Judge Peter Espinoza said his ruling was "in defense of the integrity of the justice system, he needs to surrender," according to the Associated Press.
Polanski had previously requested that he be sentenced in absentia.

And that movie really soft-pedaled, I thought. It was worse than the movie let on, and you can still tell he was a coward who ran. He should have done is time back then, instead of pretending he could hide forever.

Let's hope this child rapist gets his day in court and the appropriate sentencing. Unfortunately, he won't be serving time in the general population.

He needs to serve his time for the rape AND have plenty of time added for leaving the country just because he was afraid he'd have to do real time after his first trial.

wtf would he want to be absent for sentencing for the raping of a baby?? he's going straight to hell do no pass go and shove him in prison.. he most CERTAINLY needs to be there to put the cuffs on UGH

He doesn't want to be here for sentencing because he wants to not go to prison. If he's not in the US, his life still isn't that hard. The Swiss Alps are pretty nice, and he'll want serve his time in his chalet, most likely.

I agree with most of what you're saying, and although she was still a child, the girl was not a "baby". There's no defense for Polanski at all, but saying "baby" makes it sound worse than it was. It was plenty bad enough without hyperbole.
