Katy Perry said "yes!" to Russell Brand's New Year's Eve marriage proposal, and we we have the pictures to prove their engagement is the real thing.

He has a wonderfully close relationship with his mother, Barbara, who (in interviews) seems to be a soft spoken sweet lady who has survived cancer 3 times. He was raised, very isolated, by his grandmother when his mother was sick.

His father was MIA most of the time and a bad influence the rest of the time. He has fought off a lot of personal addiction demons with rehabilitation and has been clean since 2002.

He prides himself on being a “former” addict and sends out positive messages in helping others find ways to rehabilitate themselves. Dude won’t even eat meat, as he’s been a vegetarian since 14.

He is also a supporter of The Hoping Foundation. If you read his book/blogs, you’ll find that Russell is quit intelligent and well spoken.

He may be rebellious, off beat, eccentric but that’s his act and what is paying his bills. I think it works for him as he seems to be heading in a much better direction than he once was!

I’m excited he’s found someone he deems worthy enough to bring home to his lovely mother. And I wouldn’t put it past him to have given her a family heirloom, ring.
