Paul Shirley, a former NBA player for the Chicago Bulls and the Phoenix Suns, has been fired by ESPN over an offensive letter he posted slamming the people of Haiti.

Former NBA Player Slams Haiti Relief Effort, Tells Haitians To "Use A Condom"

He had blogged for ESPN.com in a column called "My So-Called Career."

"He was a part-time freelance contributor," read a statement released by the company on Wednesday.

"The views he expressed on another site of course do not at all reflect our company's views on the Haiti relief efforts. He will no longer contribute to ESPN."

He's a moron for writing this: After the tsunami of 2004, the citizens of the world wailed and donated and volunteered for cleanup, rarely asking the important – and, I think, obvious – question:

What were all those people doing there in the first place? " Uh...the same thing could happen to San Francisco. It's not that people were living dangerously like in NOLA. Tsunamis can happen to ANY coastline.

Read his letter - GO SHIRLEY! Comments on sports sites regarding his termination show even those who don't agree w/him, don't think he should have lost his blog. Hope the backlash towards ESPN is is harsh and swift.

I doubt there will be any backlash towards ESPN for getting rid of some Hitleresque piece of trash. Would you blame Dell for firing someone for saying Apple is a better computer??

He didn't blog on ESPN that FoxSports was better, his letter was his opinion on Haiti. It would be like Dell firing someone for complaining about high taxes. Don't spin the issue to suit your agenda.

The point I was trying to make, since obviously you didn't get it, was that a company has every right to fire someone who says something publicly that company doesn't agree with. Obviously this idiot is an embarrassment to ESPN.

Reader31, it seems that you don't even know what your point is. Could it be because you copy/paste other peoples comments from other websites and try and pass them off as your own? No reply needed, I know the answer.

What the h*** are you babbling about?? I don't cut and paste comments from anyone's web site. If others are saying the same thing that's because a lot of people feel like I do..

how is that insensitive when he is only pointing out the truth? his letter was not racist . to see all of the posts that wish for something bad to happen to this guy for telling the truth? wow. you people suck and karma flows both ways.

Huh?? What twisted world do you live in?? That's like saying the workers in the World Trade Center on 9/11 are responsible for a plane flying through their building.. Your comment makes absolutely no sense.
