It’s not just Oprah Winfrey who is leaving day time television – Tyra Banks is quitting The Tyra Show.
“This will be the last season of The Tyra Show,” Banks told People.

“I’ve been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past 5 years,” Banks told the magazine.
The final fifth season will finish at end of Spring 2010 for the show that has scooped two Daytime Emmy Awards for the former supermodel.

The famous host will turn her attention to launching Bankable Studios – a New York based company which is currently looking at various projects.
Banks wants to focus her attention on “bringing positive images of women to the big screen” according to insiders.
“My next huge steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls to help us all feel as fierce as we truly are,” Banks revealed.
With encouragement from her friends, filmmaker Tyler Perry and her mentor Oprah Winfrey, Banks is hoping to conquer the big screen by following her dream of moving into film producing.

But despite the end of her popular daytime show, America’s Next Top Model will be returning for its 15th season in February, 2010 along with Banks’ ABC show True Beauty.
“There’s a lot cooking right now and a lot of fire burning in my heart,” Banks writes in an open letter on her website.
“And I salute you my amazing family of viewers; without you there never would have been a Tyra Show. I really love you all.”

what's a poc?

POC (all caps) = People of Color or Person of Color

I love Tyra, but I wasn't a huge fan of her talk show. Stil sorry to see it go though. Tyra's such an enterprising woman, everything she does usually works out well. She's not afraid to take chances and that's what ultimately = success.

I'm glad she's leaving - a show all about preferencing.
Caucasian women were being used to attract advertisers however show content was slanted towards the AfAm and POC markets. Wondered when the white audience members would catch on...

Err you are way out there today. Her audience was diverse and she spoke on issues everyone could benefit from like teen dating violence, fashion and body image

Sorry but your username gives you away. Obviously you will have a dif view.
Very little of what Tyra featured on her show applied to caucasian women. White for advertiser draw.
Same with Oprah. Whites were only shown as losers.

The "I do not see myself represented" or "I am not the target audience" argument is what led to the creation of BET. Wonder what your views are on that...just curious

I have no issue w/BET. I do have a prob with Tyra & Oprah because they *used* caucasians to fund shows largely focused toward POC. I'm not the first to notice this. Tyra & Oprah are slammed on other forums because of their biases.

One more thing: We don't like being used any more than you do. That's my point.

I still do not see your point. Mostly white women love Oprah. She is actually slammed on Black blogs for not being accessible to Black women or for showcasing Black actors until recently.
Tyra's audience was mixed as well, with skinny women at that
