Gorgeous George (Clooney, that is) soaks in the sun with his Italian girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis in Mexico on Tuesday.

The couple met in Rome back in July and have been virtually inseparable since then.

They finally went public this past fall when Canalis, 31, posed on the red carpet with Clooney, 48, at the London and Venice Film Festivals.

Recently, the Oscar winner has been spending a lot of time in Italy -- he has a villa in Lake Como and he’s been shooting the film, The American, in Rome.

Right now, Clooney stars in two big screen hits: the critically acclaimed Up In The Air, which recently was honored with a leading 6 Golden Globe nominations (including one for Clooney as Best Actor) and the animated Fantastic Mr. Fox.
