The death of actress Brittany Murphy took Hollywood by surprise and it’s proved to be a trying time for both friends and family that were close to the actress.

RadarOnline.com caught up with a family friend who looked visibly distraught outside of Murphy’s Hollywood Hills home Monday night. When asked how Brittany’s husband Simon Monjack was doing she replied, “Not good.”

“It’s tough... pretty tough,” the friend said of the mood inside the home. Brittany’s mother Sharon has yet to speak out on the tragic loss of her daughter but the family friend confirmed to RadarOnline.com that she was in the house with Brittany’s husband and other family members.

Radar, you screwed up this headline. I too thought that the headline implied that the family didn't think highly of the husband. This guy is grieving. Please change that headline.

When I first saw this headline...I thought you were suggesting he is a bad person, not that he is in bad shape because of his wifes death.

I feel so bad for this families loss. But there are questions because of certain things happening this month that could led to some answers. Its odd, how she was fired from an acting gig because of this guy and then the plane emergency now her death.
