A massive snowstorm kept many theatre goers home and prevented James Cameron’s big budget technopic from setting box office records as Avatar is projected to bring in an impressive, but not staggering $72 million this weekend at the box office.

It’s only the 3rd best December debut of all time, despite Avatar’s 3D ticket price premium. I Am Legend is tops at the box office in December, followed by The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King.
Fox executives are eagerly waiting for the East Coast snow to clear, with high hopes Avatar has legs and will continue to build steam and turn a blue weekend into box office gold.

I knew it was of no interest to me but talked to people who said it made them dizzy and queasy.

Unfortunately people might find the movie online while waiting for the storm to clear

My college-aged son saw it; he said that while it is, as billed, visually stunning, the story line is "simple," and three hrs of 3-D is too hard on the eyes. He said he might be up for seeing it again--if someone else (i.e., me) paid for his ticket.

This movie is great and I am not a fan of this type of movie. My adult son, husband and I saw this and got into it after about 15 minutes. You will have some wonderful sights to see in this.
