Lighter-Skinned Sammy Sosa "Not Trying To Be Michael Jackson," Associate Says

Ex-baseball slugger Sammy Sosa is "not trying to be Michael Jackson," a Chicago Cubs employee who talks to the outfielder frequently said after pictures of a dramatically lighter-complected Sosa at an after-party following Thursday's Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas, surfaced online.

"He is going through a rejuvenation process for his skin. Women have it all of the time. He was surprised he came out looking so white. I thought it was a body double. Part of is just the lighting," Rebecca Polihronis, an employee of Sosa's former team, the Cubs, told the Chicago Tribune.

"He was doing a dermatological skin process after years and years in the sun," Polihronis said. "It did come out looking weird."

Sosa retired from baseball two years ago, after hitting 21 home runs in 412 at-bats for the Texas Rangers.

He's not trying "to be a Michael Jackson", he's trying to be The Joker!! Michael had a medical disorder; Sammy suffers from ignorant vanity! How he can stand to look at himself in the mirror is beyond me!

MJ wasn't trying to look white. He had Vitillgo! I've seen Vitillgo up close and it's remarkable damage and almost transparent white no matter what race you are.

Some of you say MJ had Vitilago....."IF" He really had vitilago then WHY did he tatoo his lips red, straighten his hair, make his nose needle thin and then have white kids?

Again, basing race on skin color is risky. Many blacks in the past passed for white after slavery. We are the world's most dynamic group in terms of skin color with 40+ shades of brown. Those kids could very well be "black"

Many of us Black women straighten our hair and are still PROUD to be Black. Plus dont forget Michael had permanent baldness from his fire accident.

He tattoed his lips because vitiligo took their pigmentation as well. Tattoos on the lips common cosmetic treatment for that. Read "Depigmentation" and "Tattooing"
