John Travolta, Kelly Preston and their daughter Ella Bleu made an emotional public appearance in their hometown of Ocala, FL Friday, and it was a night to remember. It was their first public outing in Ocala since the January death of John & Kelly's son, Jett.

The family hosted a special screening of their new movie, Old Dogs, that raised $37,500 for five local charities. The Travoltas spent 30 minutes on the red carpet, signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans.

"Kelly, Ella and I want to thank all of you for supporting us over the last year," John told the crowd of several hundred locals.  "It's meant the world to us.  We know that we have a community.....We appreciate it.  Jett appreciates it."

I have always like John Travolta since I first saw him on Welcome Back Kotter. My heart goes out to them for the loss of their son.

I honestly feel that he could never go public about his son because of the religion that they belong to. They do not believe in any medications for brain problems and since Jett suffered from Autism and Grand Mal seizures they had to keep it quiet.

Jhon and his wife have changed so much since there child died, you can tell it has but such a strain on them and they have both aged so much. pray for these people and stop cutting them down just because they do not act like you think they should.

John Travolta could have done so much to make people aware of Autism, but he chose to keep it hidden, what a shame, if this is because of Scientology then he needs to dump the CULT!!

Get up off your A_ _ and discuss autism. When it comes to family members of entertainers, we, have no right to say what they should do. Do you want them to tell you what to do? Lose a child and see how it feels.
