RadarOnline.com was the first to report that Sean Penn's 16-year old son was arrested at school last week, and now, we can reveal why.

Two sources familiar with the situation exclusively tells RadarOnline.com that the teen was arrested for having narcotics in his possession.

As we first reported Tuesday, the younger Penn was busted at the school he attends in the posh Malibu area.

At this time, authorities are not revealing what kind of drugs Penn had in his possession.

The drug arrest is sure to be fodder for Sean Penn’s adversaries, especially those who are outraged by his politics, and his meeting with Hugo Chavez.

The arrest of Penn’s son comes at a difficult time for the family. Just this past August, his mother Robin Wright Penn filed for divorce , declaring this time (unlike previous times when she withdrew divorce papers) that she has no plans to reconcile with Sean.

Lots of kids turn to drugs when their family is going through a hard time such as divorce. Why should a celebrity family be any different? Put your political biases aside and give this kid a break.

Robert Downey Jr should sit Sean down and have a chat with him.RDJ's father let him use drugs with him at a young age. Messed RDJ up for a long time.

Exactly, by publicly making that pro-pot stance he basically gave the message to his kids that drugs are cool. He's probably proud of his kid for doing this and will be saying its his 16 yr olds civil right to carry weed if he wants too.

I mentoned prevously that it was probably drugs. Maybe if Sean stayed home with his son instead of traveled to see his boyfriends Castro and Chavez his son would not be a loser drug addict.
