While husband Jon was in a Pennsylvania court confirming he returned $180, 000 from their joint checking account, Kate Gosselin was in Long Beach, Calif., greeting fans and well-wishers at a book signing.

The book signing was not only for the mother of eight’s benefit. It was part of the program for the California Women’s Conference held by First Lady of California Maria Shriver.

Shriver had invited Gosselin at the suggestion of her teenage daughters who were fans of the TLC hit Jon & Kate Plus 8. The invitation was sent out before news of their separation went public.
