AskMen.com Tuesday announced their Top 49 Most Influential Men of 2009 list, a poll more than 500,000 readers voted on, with entertainment, politics, technology and sports figures in the mix.
The winner? A figment of your imagination, literally: Mad Men's Don Draper, the hard-nosed advertising firm head, played by the incomparable Jon Hamm.

"In a turbulent 2009, men are seeking the stability of tradition in the masculine qualities that they imagine their fathers and grandfathers to have had," AskMen.com's James Bassil said. "The character of Don Draper brings all these traits together, and in doing so speaks directly to the modern man. He's a man whose time has come."

Other notable favorites who scored on the survey: U.S. Pres. Barack Obama (#3), star maker Simon Cowell (#5), the late Michael Jackson (#6), NFL everyman Peyton Manning (#9) and the irresistible Robert Pattinson (#44).

This man is hot. I am going to go out there on a limb and declare him the new Clooney and I don't say that lightly. For us ladies who like a real man, this is the man we fantasize about. Bow chicka wow wow ; )

Don Draper's a serial-cheating, chain-smoking, hard-drinking fraud. Okay, I love him too but if he didn't look like Jon Hamm, I'm not sure he would have the same appeal!
