Anna Nicole Smith Was High On Ecstasy At American Music Awards

Anna Nicole Smith was high on Ecstasy when she gave her famous AMA awards speech.

Smith's former bodyguard, Maurice Brighthaupt took the witness stand Wednesday and revealed shocking details about her drug abuse.

Brighthaupt - who is also a firefighter and paramedic - admitted he tried on several occassions to stop Smith from drinking and taking drugs.

But on the night of the famed American Music Awards in 2004 he witnessed her taking an illegal substance.

"Did you see her take medication at the hotel before the awards?"  asked Judge Robert J Perry. "Yes," he answered.

When asked what she took and whether it was pills or liquid Brighthaupt revealed; "Pills. I've seen her take medications and others that weren't medication. At the awards show she took Ecstasy."

Brighthaupt, who Smith nicknamed 'Mo Mo', also revealed how he attempted to curb her drinking habits.

"Before she went on stage she was backstage. She was drinking a little champagne," he told the courtroom, where Smith's ex, Howard Stern, was sat.

"She had started drinking champagne in the room back at the hotel. But after she had taken a sip I would take it away and throw it out."

When asked why he did this, he said; "I didn't want her to make a fool of herself. But someone always gave her another glass or bottle. A lot of the time it was Larry Birkhead giving her a drink."

Witnesses were taking the stand in the preliminary hearing in the case against Howard Stern and two others doctors, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Dr Khristina Erosevich accused of conspiring to furnish a drug to an addict.
