Ryan Seacrest commented via Twitter about Wednesday's surprisingly announcement that Ellen DeGeneres would be taking Paula Abdul's spot as a judge on the American Idol panel.

"Wow all went down fast," Seacrest, the host of the top-rated talent show, wrote. "yes ellen d will be coming to idol. she and paula are both very good friends of mine. E.D. On radio show 2morrow"

American Idol returns to Fox in January for its ninth season.

I think that it is time to move on from American Idol. I cannot believe that Ellen Degeneres is going to be an "Idol". Someone younger could have been a better choice. Katy Perry is one example...
