EXCLUSIVE: Daughter of Mama's & Papa's Cass Elliot Defends Mackenzie Phillips

One of Mackenzie Phillips’ closest friends is rushing to her defense in wake of criticism Mackenzie has received after claiming that her father John Phillips had sex with her and fueled her drug addiction.
In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, The Mama’s & Papa’s Cass Elliot’s daughter, Owen Elliot says: “Mackenzie is my best friend and I know that she would never make up a story like this. I don’t know anyone who would make up a story like this. I absolutely back her up 100 percent.”

Not everyone has reacted positively to Mackenzie’s admission -- including John Phillip’s ex-wife and former Mama’s & Papa’s member, Michelle Phillips, who recently said she believes Mackenzie is “imagining” the story. But Elliot says not so.

“I think a lot of people have a lot of textbook reactions in terms of family members just not really wanting this stuff to be out there,” Elliot told RadarOnline.com. “Because, you know what? It’s sensitive stuff. It’s not laundry people want aired. Some are going to be in denial, some are going to put out the blame.”

Elliot, who says she talks to Mackenzie “constantly”, said Phillips is doing just fine.
“She’s got a lot of support from people in the last 24 hours and I know that has helped her tremendously,” Elliot told RadarOnline.com. “Her sister Chynna stands behind her. She’s doing great.”

My brother tried french kissing me once when I was 20 or so (hes always favored me) and I said NO WAY and laughed it off. I never told anyone and in a drunken stupor, my brother told my older sis. It does happen.

I too thought she is still on drugs when I saw Oprah. She's in bad shape. This woman is probably beyond hope of repair.

if this is true she was old enough to know better and to stop it, but she didnt said she had Stokholm syndrome. shouldn't compare herself to people who were kidnapped tortured raped. was free to leave world of drugs and sex she chose to stay.

I watched her interview with Oprah. The way she kept wiping her mouth and the red eyes makes me think that she is still doing drugs!

I do not doubt the story, but I wonder why she didn't come forward with this story before her father died so he could defend himself? Or is this a way to jump start her career? It is hard to say

I believe her too. I also believe that it's part of moving on,although it should have been done privately. Her stepmoms are denying it bc it would make them look bad. I think they knew all along. And what did they do? F*** ALL!!

The mixed up woman belongs in a mental institution. When you are 28 and having consensual sex with your father, you are old enough to know better and to say NO, drugs or no drugs.

You never hear from her (Mackenzie Phillips) unless she is in or out of rehab. My questions is WHY is she coming out with now? Most Hollywood 'celebs' don't go public with trash unless there is a '15 minutes of fame' reason.
