Wow.

Anne Heche went off on her ex-husband during a biting interview Wednesday night on Late Show with David Letterman. When Letterman inquired about her ex Coley Laffoon-- the father of her 7-year-old-son Homer – Heche asked : "Can you say 'lazy ass' on TV?"   

The 40-year-old actress quickly backed off her stinging statement, saying, "No, no, no… that's terrible…that’s terrible.”  She then proceeded to say --dripping with sarcasm--  “He’s doing a lot for himself right now. The newest and greatest event in his life … I think he wants to be coaching soccer right about now.”

Laffoon filed for divorce from Heche in February 2007 after five years of marriage. As part of their contentious divorce settlement,  Laffoon receives  monthly child support payments for their son.

When asked by Letterman what Laffoon does for a living, Heche paused before telling the audience: "He goes out to the mailbox and he opens up the little mailbox door and goes, 'Oh! I got a check from Anne! Oh! I got a check from Anne! Yay!' "

The actress -- who currently costars on HBO's new comedy Hung-- has moved on in her love life.  She’s now with her former Men in Trees costar James Tupper. The couple  had their first child  together  this past March , a baby boy named Atlas Heche Tupper.

"Don't get married," the actress advised. "Forever engaged is a wonderful romantic thing to do."
