Harry Potter is recession-proof.
Rave reviews and a family-friendly PG rating helped the latest chapter in J.K. Rowling's series post huge totals -- a domestic intake of $79.5 million in its opening weekend, and $159.7 million since its' Wednesday debut, according to Sunday numbers. Even more spectacular was its global total of $396.7 million.
Left in the wake of Potter's success was Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs in second place at $17.7 million; Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at $13.7 million; and the plummeting Bruno came in fourth, with a measly $8.4 million in its' sophomore week.
