Monday night's episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 may have shed new light on just how long the couple have been leading separate lives.

The episode concentrates on Kate ringing in 34, where her eight little ones helped celebrate without their father--who admitted to planning a vacation that "just happened to fall" on his wife's special day.

"I went out to Utah for, like, five days," he said, "I just wanted to get back out there and ride with my friends."

Playing single parent, Kate chowed on birthday cake and kept watch over the busy household in Reading, PA. Watch the clip above!
