Here's your first look at actor extraordinaire Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's twisted 3D adaptation of  Alice in Wonderland.

Producer Richard Zanuck explains that the Oscar nominated actor really took to his role saying, "He is so much fun and so nutty, I can't imagine anyone else doing it."

The Lewis Carroll classic co-stars Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman and Christopher Lee.

The only problem with the film is that we'll have to wait to see it -- Alice In Wonderland won't be  released until May 5, 2010.

Up next for Depp -- he stars as notorious Chicago bank robber Jon Dillinger in Public Enemies, being released July 1.
