Idol: Judges Stand By Danny Gokey

Danny Gokey impressed the judges and audience with an innovative rendition of 1980's Stand By Me.
Gokey's tempo and mannerisms varied wildly during the performance, ranging from somber piano man to extroverted lounge singer and everything in between.
Kara DioGuardi praised Gokey for his effervescent energy and originality in doing the cover. "You did your own thing and you did it well," she said.
Randy Jackson said he was not fond of the arrangement, but Gokey won him over anyway. "This is a vocal talent show," Jackson said, "And you've got some talent."
